In 1964, the organ builder Gabriel Blancafort found the inscription Franciscus Turull me fecit, anno 1719 at the bottom of the main chest. The organ is located next to the choir, between the first two columns of the left nave. The Baroque case was created by the sculptor Vicente Dols, and on the cornice, there are three sections of canon pipes. The sounding organ consists of two parts: the first corresponds to the main organ, occupying the main section of the façade; the second is the *cadereta* organ, situated behind the organist’s bench, whose pipes were once covered with oils. Currently, it operates through mechanical transmission and has 3,645 pipes. It is considered the most important historic organ in the Valencian Community.

On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the construction of the Turull organ in Morella, considered the most important historic organ in the Valencian Community, a specially designed program is being presented to bring the secrets of this unique instrument closer to the public. The event, which will take place over three days, will feature lectures, concerts, educational activities, and guided tours. The lectures, open to the general public, will cover documentation from technical, aesthetic, and organological perspectives; the characteristics, evolution, and current state of the instrument; and the historical-musical context (organists, competition documents, and works written specifically for this instrument over its years of operation).
In addition, organ concerts will be performed by renowned Valencian organists, alongside guided tours and educational activities aimed at introducing the instrument to children. The lectures will be held in the Gothic halls of Morella’s town hall, equipped with the necessary facilities, and the concerts will take place in the Archpriest Church of Santa Maria. The guided tours will allow residents to explore the mysteries of this magnificent instrument, and children will also have the opportunity to see how such an instrument works, all under the guidance of organists and organ specialists.

Download program

From October 3 to 6, 2024 Built by Francisco Turull, between 1717, the year it was commissioned, and 1724, the year of its delivery.
