INTERCULTURAL MUSIC, HERITAGE AND TRADITION FESTIVAL<\/h4>\n

The Foundation, in compliance with its goals for promoting the musical heritage of the Crown of Aragon supports Arrels Festival. The initiative consists<\/span><\/span> on an exploration of the secret paths of the musical transmission, when spoken and written word had not yet reached the crossroads where their paths got separated for centuries. There was a time when the current division between classical and popular music made no sense<\/b>. Music was equally displayed in the tavern and the palace lounge, during monastic meditation and in the festive revelry, in the solemn procession and in the busy city life, under the inclement sun of the countryside and in the darkness of the bourgeois chamber. Identical melodic structures, similar rhythmic patterns and even the same instruments, as so eloquently exposes the iconography- and often the same actors: in the northern lands the dol\u00e7ainer is called xular<\/i>, a clear reminiscent of those minstrels who practiced his art without distinction between noble or plebeian audience.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
