{"id":367,"date":"2019-05-14T09:15:05","date_gmt":"2019-05-14T07:15:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/culturalcdm.eu\/2020\/09\/23\/500th-germanies\/"},"modified":"2020-09-23T17:00:50","modified_gmt":"2020-09-23T15:00:50","slug":"500th-germanies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/culturalcdm.eu\/en\/festivales\/500th-germanies\/","title":{"rendered":"500th Germanies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Taking the 5th Centenary of the Revolt of the Brotherhoods (<em>Germanies<\/em>) as the starting point, a social revolt against the novelty powered by artisan guilds&nbsp;in the Kingdoms of Valencia and Mallorca from 1519 to&nbsp;1523, the Fundaci\u00f3 Cultural CdM has supported different projects for the protection and promotion of the musical heritage related to this historic&nbsp;event.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"drop_h2\"><strong><em>Germanies<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"drop_h3\"><strong>Premiere of&nbsp;Capella de Ministrer&#8217;s program at&nbsp;Festival Renaixement 2019<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Monestir de Sant Miquel dels Reis (Valencia)<br \/>\n6th July&nbsp;2019<\/p>\n<p>The program proposed by Carles Magraner and Capella de Ministrers explores part of the warlike repertoire composed in Catholic Europe during the &#8220;long&#8221; 16th century. In the religious realm, the impact of&nbsp;war has been equally remarkable, always covered in a sacred and moralizing tone. The album includes part of this overwhelming repertoire for funeral masses (Requiem), ceremonial thanksgiving (Te Deum, military masses, etc.) to the expressive musical repertoire of Holy Week based on the Lamentations&nbsp;by Jerem\u00edas, which narrates the siege and destruction of the city of Jerusalem after falling into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar (587 BC).<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px; text-align: justify; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; color: rgb(49, 49, 49);\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px; text-align: justify; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; color: rgb(49, 49, 49);\"><em>Aria della battaglia<\/em> by Andrea Gabrieli was recorded in memory of Magdalena Stefania Midgley, born Kedzierska (4th November 1952 &#8211; 21st July 2014), the beloved wife of Stephen Midgley. Magdalena was an eminent&nbsp;archaeologist, professor of European Neolithic at the University of Edinburgh and&nbsp;author of several books on this academic subject. The <em>Aria della battaglia<\/em> for eight wind instruments by Andrea Gabrieli was one of her favorite works.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"drop_h2\"><em>X\u00e0tiva Renaixentista<\/em> music&nbsp;season<\/h2>\n<h3 class=\"drop_h3\" style=\"margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; color: rgb(49, 49, 49);\">500 years of the Revolt of the Brotherhoods<\/h3>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; color: rgb(49, 49, 49);\">X\u00e1tiva<br \/>\n29th October &#8211; 1st November&nbsp;2020<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; color: rgb(49, 49, 49);\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; color: rgb(49, 49, 49);\">Festival of music and heritage around the <em>Borgias<\/em>. X\u00e0tiva was&nbsp;cradle of the Borja family, one of the most powerful dynasties of the Renaissance. The family achieved universal fame with the popes&nbsp;Alfonso de Borgia (Calixto III, 1456-1458) and his grandson Rodrigo de Borgia (Alexander VI, 1492-1503). The Borgias held numerous positions of civil and ecclesiastical power, as later did Saint Francis Borgia, who was the third general of the <i>Society of Jesus<\/i>&nbsp;(1565-1572).
