Meravelles

Based on the immortal text by Ramon Llull, The Book of the Beasts (Llibre de les Bèsties), this performance invites us to reflect on the nature of power, corruption, and human morality through a symbolic universe of animals whose passions and vices mirror the human condition. During his journey, Felix encounters a group of friars who tell him a fascinating story: in a nearby forest, all the beasts have gathered to elect a king. The Lion, triumphant in the vote, establishes his reign; however, the Fox, resentful at being excluded from the court, plots her rise to power through lies and deceit.

Manipulation, fear, and betrayal spread among the animals until justice—or perhaps violence—puts an end to the game. This political fable, written over seven centuries ago, remains strikingly relevant today: it speaks of ambition, hypocrisy, and the thirst for dominance—vices that transcend time and form. The story is presented in contemporary Valencian, featuring a vivid narration enveloped by the sounds of medieval instrumental repertoire, creating an atmosphere of mystery, irony, and beauty.
